Sports Trainer

Sports Trainer / First Aider Information

The following information is to assist all Sports Trainers. It is the responsibilty of the sports trainer to look after the welfare of the player whilst on the field and to take the necessary action when called upon. This could range from head knocks, cuts, dislocations etc. The sports trainer will determine if a player is able to play or continue to play and can rule a player unfit to play before and during a match.
Ice is provided by the club for each game.

And stress in there that if a team doesn’t have a first aided they are not meant to take the field. That due the the safely and well-being of all player and officials. the fao needs to be certified in Sports first aid and as such the club will pay for the relevant course or in some cases re imburse at the end of the season. if there is an inicdent on the field it is the responsibilty of the first aid officer to contact the ambulance and do basic first aid until the ambulance arrives. there are different levels of first aid and these are green U5-U12, blue U13 up As a Rugby League Sports Trainer you will be aware of your responsibilities, duties and limitations through your training in becoming a Rugby League Sports Trainer  One of your major responsibilities is the “total care and welfare of the players under your care”.  To assist you with this task it is of the utmost importance that a medical advice card system be implemented by you within your club.  This will provide you with information about a player’s health status and other important information in cases of emergencies. Implementation  Have the cards distributed, completed and collected before a player plays in a game under the control of your Club or Group/ District. Medical Advice Card  You should check each card carefully and be aware of any special medical conditions, injuries, etc. that a player may have.  If you consider that a player may need further medical evaluation or advice about a condition or injury before playing he should be referred to the honorary medical adviser to the Club or Group/District or his own Doctor.  You should keep all cards, and information contained on the card should only be available to yourself and other accredited Rugby League Sports Trainers in your Club or Group/District who will be caring for these players, and the Honorary Medical Adviser.  They should be continually updated as the season proceeds if a player’s health status changes or a significant injury occurs to that player.

Volunteers

Coaches, Managers, LeagueSafe, First Aid, Sports Trainers, Tough Judges, Assistant coaches are all Volunteers and are to be registered accordingly and accredited for that role. All volunteers must hold a valid Blue Card, linked to the club unless volunteering for the Seniors teams only.

Dress Code

Managers are to ensure that all players arrive to games in the club polo shirt. At no time should the player wear the jersey home from the game. Execptions can be made when the jersey cannot be removed for medical reasons.

Medical Issues

It is the responsibilty of each parent / carer to inform the Manager or coach of any new medical issues that may affect them playing in any way. A medical clearance from a doctor may be required.

Game Day

The following information is to assist all Coaches with running the team. Managers and Coaches need to communicate effectively as there are many areas, of each role, that overlap and both need to be made aware of the situation.
Volunteers must have completed the following:

  • Valid Blue Card which must be linked with the club.
  • Register as a Sports Trainer.

Medical Issues

It is the responsibilty of each parent / carer to inform the Manager or Coach of any new medical issues that may affect them playing in any way. A medical clearance from a doctor may be required and given to the First Aid Officer who will inturn inform the Manager and Coach of the players ability to play or not.
